George Bosshart scholarship
(awarded once annually)
The George Bosshart Scholarship has been established to honour the memory of George Bosshart, a distinguished gemmologist who dedicated his career to studying the causes of colour in diamonds. He was director of SSEF from 1974 to 1990, and sadly passed away in 2012. This annual scholarship is aimed at students with a keen interest in diamonds. Mr. Bosshart’s work -including on the Dresden Green Diamond in 1988- significantly advanced the understanding of diamond colouration, and he was known for his enthusiasm in sharing his knowledge with both colleagues and students. The scholarship supports students who may not have the financial means to pursue advanced gemmology courses, encouraging them to continue their studies in a field that George Bosshart was so passionate about.
